Iowa Experiment Shows Why It Pays to Teach Your Kids Gun Safety

As hunters and shooters, we know the value of practicing gun safety.

This experiment, which put several Iowa children in the room with a gun (disabled for safety), shows the importance of passing those safety principles down to your children at an early age.

The results of this experiment may come as a shock to those who don’t own guns, but in many families, guns and gun safety are a fact of life.

Aside from giving your children lessons in gun safety, modeling the appropriate behavior and limiting their exposure to television shows and movies that portray people pointing guns at other people will give them a firm grasp of gun safety at an early age.

What would your children have done if they were a part of the test group? If you’re not sure, maybe it’s time to give them a refresher course in the appropriate and safe use of these valuable tools. Who knows? It might save their life.
