The New Guinea invasive flatworm has arrived in the U.S.; it’s gross and snails everywhere are worried.
The species known as the Platydemus manokwari has been recorded for the first time on U.S. soil in Florida. This makes it one of the first times in recorded history that this lovely creature has been spotted in the lower 48 states.
This black, slimy wonder is disgusting and worst of all it’s listed on the Invasive Species Specialist Group’s 100 worst invaders on the planet.
Watch and enjoy a cold shiver:
Since this invasive flatworm loves escargot almost as much as the French, we have to think this one over carefully.
Invasive species are no joke, but it’s time to think out of the box.
What if somebody started throwing flatworms at largemouth bass, or even better- stripers! If they brought us a good bite we’d be stringing these things on our hooks faster than you can say Platydemus.
Somebody call Gamakatsu.
