Incredible Slow Motion Footage of Key West Tarpon Feeding

These silver tarpon put on an ‘in your face’ show – and it’s all captured in awesome slow motion detail.

Tarpon grow to about 4 to 8 feet long and can weigh between 60 and 280 pounds.  Agile and incredibly quick swimmers, adult tarpon are strictly carnivorous and always swallow their prey whole.

This incredible footage posted on the FishMaster Facebook page shows a number of Key West tarpon chowing down on hand-tossed fish inside the seaport – an area that is off-limits to fishing. As you’ll see, the mouths on these fish are something to marvel at, as is their ability to turn on a dime when the lunch bell is rung.

According to FishMaster, these tarpon range in length from 4 to 6 feet and weigh between 50 and 200 pounds. Certainly no minnows, that’s for sure.

Here’s hoping one of the locals puts an underwater camera down there for an even better show. Now that would be something cool to see!
