If You’re Bowhunting in Maine This Fall, You Need an Archery License

This fall, bowhunters in Maine will need an archery license in order to hunt.

No, an archery license isn’t the same as a hunting license. If you want to bowhunt in Maine, you’ll need both.

In order to purchase the license, bowhunters will have to take an archery safety course. That’s every bowhunter, no matter how long you’ve been bowhunting.

The state has created special seasons in the past that required an archery permit. Officials say that they are standardizing the system to require bowhunters to take a safety course.

There are 25 courses in 16 locations scheduled between now and deer season in the state.
