Every once in a while, people seem to catch the strangest things.
Reddit user Hellion102792 was fishing the John L. Curran Upper Reservoir in Cranston, Rhode Island when he hooked into something unusual.
Using a slow retrieve on a baby torpedo, he had a small bass hit his lure with some intensity. It wasn’t until he got the fish up that he noticed something different.
As you can see, the fish is missing the upper part of its mouth. To this catch, I personally say congratulations! That takes skill.
When asked his theory about what happened to the fish, Hellion102792 suggested it might have had a bad run-in with a boat prop or a snapping turtle.
The fish was nine to 10 inches, and still had some fight left in it when he released it. It just goes to show you the resiliency in Mother Nature. I’m sure this fish will swim on to be caught again.
