The Highest Tech of the Past: The Danish 1865/97 Pinfire Conversion Revolver

danish 1865/97

The Danish M1865/97 was a revolver ahead of its time.

Forgotten Weapons got a chance to take a thorough look at this revolver.

Let them tell you all about the historical Danish 1865/97 Pinfire Conversion Revolver.

Ian from Forgotten Weapons has a Danish military revolver from way back in 1865. This revolver started life as a 11mm Pinfire caliber, then it was then converted them to a centerfire cartridge and was in service for almost 100 years. Now that is just incredible.

It also fired a wooden-cored, nickel plated bullet. That made the bullet lighter and allowed a higher velocity.

These historical revolvers are in short supply as there is said to be only around 850 left. This old military gun has certainly witnessed lots of history and action.

This Danish 1865/97 Pinfire Conversion Revolver is quite an interesting weapon. It was only a step of many in the evolution to the modern day double action revolvers.
