This is the amazing story of the guy who freaked out over mating mallards.
It’s all fun until you see how this guy tries to break up some mallards in the throes of passion. While waterfowl breeding behavior may be alien to some, nature will take its course.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, a couple of herons are feasting on the ducklings that are left behind prompting this guy into an odd form of duck savior mode.
Okay, it’s obvious that this guy has never seen mating mallards. Whether a hen has ducklings or not, drakes will try again and again to mate with her; oh by the way, they’re not trying to kill her, buddy.
Certainly he has nothing to do with the fact that the unguarded ducklings are an easy target for the hungry herons, but if you’re going to save them it’s a good idea not to swing a leg at their mother. It doesn’t help that she seems to be outnumbered, like, four to one.
It’s always interesting how many people think they are saving a wild animal from its own true instincts. I’m curious as to what they think happens when they take their camera and go home; is it not okay for a heron to feed on a duckling because we are standing right there to watch it?
What’s next, wild animals that come up to us and swat that cheeseburger out of our hands?
