This BBQ venison meatloaf recipe just might be the best thing you eat this fall.
First off, this is a venison recipe. Like all great wild game recipes, the best ones contain this wonderful meat. Second, this recipe also uses one of the best BBQ sauces I’ve had in a long time. Perhaps that single key ingredient is what actually makes this BBQ venison meatloaf recipe so good.
In full disclosure, this recipe was actually created by the Bonz Barb-BQ company: they call it “Outta This World Meatloaf.” The original recipe uses ground beef; however, we here at Wide Open Spaces prefer venison. So, we made a change. However, we are all sure it would still be just as good if you used beef instead.
Bonz “Outta This World” BBQ Venison Meatloaf
- 2 pounds ground venison
- 2 cups crushed cornflakes
- 3/4 cup Bonz Barb-BQ sauce
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of pepper
- 1 large chopped onion
- Chopped green peppers to taste
- 1 cup of boiling water
- 4 strips of bacon
To get this recipe started, just combine all of the above ingredients, except for the water and bacon. Mix it all together and form the meat into a loaf.
Next, pour 1 cup of boiling water on top of the meat. Make sure you coat it pretty well. Now, top it off with enough bacon to cover the top half, longways. Four slices should just about do the trick. Finally, add another healthy pour of Barb-BQ sauce.
Place this all in the oven for about an hour at 350 degrees.
Once finished, slice everything into pieces and enjoy! This is an easy recipe, but good Lord, does it taste great!
