"Heavy Traffic" in North Idaho as Elk Herd Crosses in the Fog

Things were moving slow in this Idaho area with an elk herd moving through.

Gives you an idea of how wild some parts of this country still are, huh?

Elk aren't the only animals that can cause backups while crossing roads, and things can get a whole lot worse than a "backup." Major damage, serious injury, and even worse, death are a real risk when driving through areas heavily populated with deer, elk, or moose.

Especially in the fall, when ungulates are mating, certain areas of the U.S. can become real hazard zones, all due to the risk of a deer-car collision.
