While in Hawaii, an angler was seriously injured by a marlin and he’s lucky it wasn’t worse.
After catching a marlin and thinking it was dead in the boat on the way back to shore, Russell Ching was impaled through the leg from the marlin’s bill.
Watch this news clip to find out what exactly happened.
Ching and his friends were fishing about 25 miles off Kaneohe when they caught the 500-pound fish, according to reports.
When asked what he would do with his souvenir Ching told repeaters, “The tip, I don’t know. I’ll probably mount it or something. It’s a good story to tell people something. I’ll keep it for self defense or something.”
Next time you catch a big marlin, remember to be wary of the bill, even after the thing’s dead!
