Our favorite .22 trick shot artist, 22plinkster, gives the new Mossberg 47 semi-auto a run-through.
The Mossberg Blaze 47 is an AK-47 look-alike chambered in .22 long rifle. It’s got a 25-round, easy-to-load, banana-style magazine.
22plinkster’s biggest praise for the gun was for its accuracy. At 40 feet he says he shot 10 rounds freehand in a dime-size group. At 50-60 yards he hit steel consistently.
He’s also impressed with the rifle’s reliability, with over 300 rounds shot without a hitch.
“If I was 13-14 years old, and it was Christmas, you know, I would love to have this particular rifle, just because it looks like an AK.”
His criticisms of the rifle include lack of optics-mounting options (although he gives a thumbs up to the fiber optic open sights on the rifle), and the polymer receiver.
22plinkster concludes, “It’s reliable, it’s affordable, and I’ve shown that it’s pretty doggone accurate.”
I’ll tell you, I don’t think you don’t have to be a 13-year-old kid to enjoy shooting one of these sweet little rifles.
