George Strait: “Fishing Is Good for the Kids and the Soul”

Fishing isn’t just for us regular folks. Count George Strait believes fishing means so much more than the act itself.

Strait shares in this interview that his love of fishing has been going strong since he was a young boy, and that he plans to make sure his love of fishing passes to his grandson as soon as the little one can hold a pole.

Strait says, “I love to fish. You can go hours without anything happening, and all of a sudden a big blue marlin comes into the spread and it’s cockpit chaos” Strait counts a 600-lb. blue marlin he snared among his finest fishing moments. “My dream is to catch a grander, a 1,000 pounder.”

If you’ve been fishing for most of your life, you might’ve forgotten what drew you to it in the first place. More importantly, you might not realize all the benefits you’ve gained from it.

Fishing isn’t just a way to pass the time; it can help you gain valuable skills, increase your appreciation of nature, improve your overall well-being, and, of course, bring a smile to your face. Introducing a child to your beloved hobby will be a great joy, especially if you consider all of the benefits of fishing for kids.
