Free Fishing for the Entire Weekend Over Father's Day

No fishing license required in honor of Father's Day.

Father's Day is this Sunday. You're coming down to the wire if you want to drop hints to your kids on what you'd like them to get you for a gift. (I'll take these, please.) It's also National Go Fishing Day.

South Dakota typically does at least one free fishing weekend per year. This is done in part to get more people out enjoying the state's parks and waterways. Introducing more young people and families to fishing is also a goal.

This year the free fishing weekend in South Dakota coincides with Father's Day weekend.

Beginning at 5 PM Friday, June 16th, and ending Sunday, June 18, anglers do not need a license to catch or transport the daily limit of fish.

Park license fees will still be required for those wishing to fish in State or National Parks.
