A former principal was able to fish again with the help of some middle school students who designed a special fishing rod for him.
When former principal Jim DeBroux went to talk to a group of Monisee middle schoolers in Wisconsin they were both in for a surprise.
After DeBroux’s talk, one of the students asked, “What do you miss the most after your injury?”
After learning that he missed fishing more than anything, the middle school students, along with their teacher and students from nearby Northcentral Technical College, set out to design a special fishing rod that could help DeBroux back into the fishing world.
This is an amazing story of inspiration, endurance, and an extreme amount of effort on all sides. These are the types of things I love to see and share, and really show what the world of hunting and fishing should be about.
I hope that someone can see this project through to completion to ensure that anyone who wants to fish, can fish, regardless of any physical limitations.
