This fly fishing video pretty much breaks down the spirit of fly fishing.
When I first saw this fly fishing video, I was captivated by the beauty of Iceland, the perfect stream conditions, the fly technique, and all other factors that went into making this clip. Then, the cussing started.
I couldn’t help but laugh as I empathized with the frustration Lotte Aulom exhibited after every missed fish. Then, the clip of the wind was perfect.
If this video doesn’t make you smile and relive some of your frustrations on the water, then you just don’t fly fish enough, or understand fly fishing at all.
Like any good fly fisherman, Aulom stuck with it. Even though the problems of the early days of the trip may have seemed insurmountable, she chived on and made the most out of her time on the water.
All we can do while on the water is make the most of our situations and hope we catch fish. You can only catch fish if your fly is in the water, and like Aulom, she stuck through until the end and finally found success.
Good for her, because if that was me, I would quit and get drunk somewhere on the side of that stream faster than one of those trout spitting a fly.
