Fly Fishing for Carp Really is Where It’s At

I think we can now all agree fly fishing for carp is now an acceptable pastime.

By now, after years of talk, articles, and television shows, fly fishing for carp is no longer a fringe practice of scummy fly fishermen. Except for a few purist die hards that only fish barbless trout water somewhere at high elevation, a carp is a worthy adversary. Just like the revolution carp fishing had had the industry, the same thing is happening in video world as well.

Since YouTube and Vimeo has been a thing, artsy trout footage as filled the fishing videowaves. However, these days it’s carp videos that are taking over. If you don’t believe us, just take a look below and see for yourself.

Yep. “Carp Dreams” is absolutely right. I have carp hallucinations as well when I walk down shorelines looking for carp. On more than one occasion, I have made a cast or two at submerged logs or fishy looking weed growth flowing in the current.

One thing is for sure, if you find yourself matched up against an angry carp with a fly rod, you will start having carp dreams as well.
