FLW‘s tournament angler Wesley Strader had an interesting catch on the final day at Lake Toho in March of 2015. Just after announcing on camera that he’s “about to take a pee-pee,” Strader says “…but first I’m going to catch this fish.” While questioning the legality of the catch, a foam cork bobber comes into the shot attached to a leader with a fish on the end.
Strader reaches for the net, giggling, “Have you ever seen anything like that?” It’s not the species he’s targeting for the FLW bass tournament, so he carefully releases the catfish. However, the angler doesn’t go home empty handed. On the other end of the line is a retractable cane pole. “I’m taking this home as a souvenir!”
In addition to the souvenir cane pole and one hell of a fish tale, Strader took home third place in the FLW tournament, which includes $25,000 in winnings, enough to buy him a cane pole of his very own.
