Check out the upcoming free fishing dates in Florida this year.

Fishing in Florida, for both residents and non-residents, will be allowed without a recreational fishing license on several dates this year, including the first weekend in April.

Both freshwater and saltwater dates are included, and they revolve around observed holidays for the most part. The objective, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, is for parents to bring young children out on the water for their first experience, and for avid anglers to bring a non-fishing friend for a cost-free introduction.

April 4 and 5, 2015 will be the first freshwater license-free fishing opportunity, with more to follow:

Freshwater license-free days, 2015

April 4, 5
June 13, 14

Saltwater license-free days, 2015

June 6, 7
September 5
Saturday 28

All bag limits, size restrictions and seasons are in full effect during the license-free fishing dates.
