Catching Florida Sailfish in the Keys Will Help Conquer the Winter Doldrums

It’s the middle of winter. You haven’t seen the sun for days or maybe weeks, let alone been out on the open water in shirtsleeves.

This video of a Florida sailfish being caught in the Keys is just what the doctor ordered. You can bet the temperature is right around sunny and 75.

Sailfishing is big off Islamorada in the winter months, and this video has it all: bent rods, open water, sunshine, and flip flops.

Watch it again and savor the screaming line and fighting 70- to 100-pound fish on an ultralight saltwater fishing rod with 20-pound-test line.

It won’t take the place of actually getting out fishing in summer, but it does add a little brightness and hope to the day.
