Florida Man Arrested for Killing Alligator That Attacked His Stepson

This 74-year-old man is in hot water after shooting an alligator.

In Bushnell, Florida an alligator has been shot and a 74-year-old man arrested. Reginald Blanton shot the alligator only feet away stalking his horses. He fired four rounds from his 9mm pistol, and later found he hit the alligator with three bullets.

Reginald Blanton’s stepson Jack Hildreth then went to take a look at the stricken predator. Jack was eight feet from the 10-foot long alligator when it sprang upon him. It grabbed his leg and left a serious wound. A friend helped Jack get away from the alligator.

Sumter County deputies arrived and a licensed trapper dispatched it. Reginald Blanton was then arrested for killing the alligator the licensed trapper actually killed.

Medical bills now have to be paid for the injuries to Jack Hildreth and bail was paid for the release of Reginald Blanton. Do you feel that Reginald Blanton should have been arrested in this case?
