Florida Angler Lands First Known Goliath Grouper from a Standup Paddleboard

A Florida angler’s claims says he’s the first to catch a goliath grouper from a standup paddleboard.

It’s hard to argue something we can honestly say we’ve never seen before, but this is at least the first catch of its kind captured on film.

Watch as a very excited Captain Ben Chancey gives this battle everything he’s got. From what he says, and from what we can gather, this is indeed the very first goliath grouper ever landed from a SUP.

Estimated to weigh in at 412 pounds, it’s no wonder this fish managed to yank Chancey into the water during the fight. The experienced angler scrambled back on the board to finish the job.

That’s one wild video, and unless proven otherwise, marks the very first time this has ever happened. What will be next, a marlin from an Amphitruck?
