Fishing Trip Leads to Encounter with Swimming Cougar in British Columbia

cougar

Big cat videoed swimming across British Columbia’s Whatshan Lake.

Everyone knows cats hate water, but every once in a while there’s one that actually likes it. We’re not sure if that’s the case with this cougar caught on video swimming in Canada, but it’s a pretty rare sight just the same.

This footage comes from Whatshan Lake in British Columbia. From the looks it gives the boaters, this cougar doesn’t sound too pleased about these humans gawking at it!

Melissa Zeboroff and her friends were on the lake fishing when they first spotted something swimming across and decided to check it out.  She told Global News Canada the big cat eventually made it to shore, but not before turning around to give them one last glaring look.

“We booted it out of there,” Zeboroff told Global News. “It was a bit nerve-wracking for us.”

But definitely a cool experience. Not many can say they’ve seen a cougar swimming. Thanks Zeboroff, for sharing your footage with the world!
