Fishing Fireman Gets Pulled Overboard Trying to Land Fish

If you are going to get pulled overboard by a fish, it’s probably going to be a goliath grouper.

Stephen Rampersad, a firefighter from from Milton, Florida almost picked a fight with a fish he couldn’t win. Luckily, after getting pulled overboard once, and almost getting pulled over another couple times, he was able to bring the big fish in. In a pretty incredible video from Chew on This, you are about to see it all go down.

It’s easy to see why goliath groupers can break so many rods. These fish are huge and they just don’t quit.

As described in the caption of this video, this grouper was estimated to be close to 450 pounds. That is a whole lot of fish to be brought in on a rod and reel. How he dropped that rod and grabbed it again before it disappeared into the drink while trying to get back in the boat is beyond me. Sometimes it’s just better to be lucky than good!

I have yet to tangle with one of these giant fish. After watching so many videos like you just saw, this ocean monster is quickly increasing its rank on my bucket list.
