Fisherman Reels in a Redfish and a Chevy Silverado

NOLA

Angler nets tagged fish in tournament winning himself a new Silverado.

It’s the kind of thing that makes up an angler’s dreams. You’re enjoying a great day of fishing when you reel in the catch of a lifetime. Participating in the STAR Tournament in Louisiana, Raymond Champagne reeled in a tagged redfish, which netted him a brand new Chevy Silverado pickup.

Officials for the tournament release 50 tagged redfish in area waters as an added incentive for folks to participate. According to The Times for Greater New Orleans, the first angler to turn in one of the tagged fish receives the truck, while as many as nine others are able to win a boat.

Champagne owes partial credit for winning the truck to his daughter, who entered them into the STAR Tournament the night before. Only one other tagged redfish was turned in during the tournament. However, the angler who netted the second fish was not registered with the tournament and thus was unable to receive the second place prize of a new boat.
