The huge bull shark was caught in just 10 feet of water 100 yards off the shore of Miami Beach.
An unidentified angler made the catch on Thursday evening while fishing on a charter run by renowned guide Capt. Mark “the Shark” Quartiano. The shark weighed 624 pounds and measured nearly 10 feet long – that’s almost as big as the all-tackle record of 697 pounds and 12 ounces.
Quartiano posted this picture of the bull shark to Instagram on Friday.
Quartiano told PeteThomasOutdoors.com the sharks belly contained, “1/2 a tarpon, 3 jack crevalles, 1 hawksbill turtle, and 1 permit.”
The massive bull shark was close in size to the all-tackle world record of 697 pounds and 12 ounces. That record bull shark was caught in offshore Kenya in 2001.
