Black bear filmed with two cubs in Ashtabula County, Ohio.

Colleen Porfillio and her daughter Jenna were driving in Ashtabula County and saw something unusual for Ohio. In fact, they’ve filmed the first clear photographic evidence of black bears in Ohio, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Take a look at the momentous footage of Ohio bears.

The video was recorded only a few miles from the Pennsylvania, so biologists aren’t sure if the bears were born in Ohio. Some believe the sow and her cubs might have journeyed to the Buckeye state.

Cleveland.Com encourages people who see a black bear in northeast Ohio to call the Wildlife District Three at 330-644-2293.

Ashtabula County is the most reported county for bear activity, but this video is the first to officially document it.

The ODNR estimated the black bear population to be approximately between 50 and 100 individual bears.
