Firefighters Haul Gator out of South Carolina YMCA Pool

This 3-foot alligator only wanted to go for a swim. Unfortunately, the pool was closed at the time.

YMCA pools generally attract all types of swimmers. But at this watering hole in Beaufort, South Carolina, a 3-foot alligator showed up to practice its front crawl.

Fortunately, the pool had not yet opened for the season and was empty of regulars at the time.

Upon arriving on scene, firefighters found the gator submerged in the deep end – and after a bit of wrangling with a lifeguard rescue hook, they were able to secure it with rope until wildlife officials showed up.

The alligator was later released to an estuary.
