Muskie anglers are a little different than your everyday angler.
They live for the figure-eight muskie strike.

Muskies are the ultimate predator fish. They follow their prey before inhaling it. Often those fish will follow a lure right to the side of the boat. At that point, veteran muskie hunters will employ the "figure eight" technique. It's easier seen than explained so check out the video.
I have no idea who first came up with the idea to move a lure in a figure eight pattern, but kudos to whoever it was. You created one of the most exciting presentations in all of fishing.
It doesn't even matter that the fish came off. The thrill was already in the boat.
