Female Dental Hygienist in Texas Wrangles 800-Pound Gator for Parks and Wildlife Department

ABC 13

An 120-pound full-time dental hygienist is the lady they call on in Texas to take care of the big boys, namely alligators that weigh over 800 pounds.

Christy Krobroth is a diminutive lady with a sweet smile and a nice personality so you would think that the guys that called her on this day might have had something else on their mind besides a 12-foot, 800+ pound alligator.

What you may not know is that the blonde haired Christy, a full-time dental hygienist, is also a licensed alligator trapper with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

Krobroth said, “A lot of times when I show up on a call it’s cops and mostly guys. And they’re like, ‘Texas Parks and Wildlife sent you?’ They kind of doubt me at first until I really get them taped and ready to go.”

When you hear someone say, “That ‘gator was as big as a car,” you can now officially believe them.

Krobroth posed with salon owner Beatrice Valdez-House who quipped that the gator “was trying to get in for a hair appointment”

The alligator was so heavy that a forklift was brought in to lift it onto an awaiting truck.

The blind-in-one-eye gator had shown up in the parking lot of the Home Depot in Sugarland, Texas and immediately caused a sensation.

The petite alligator trapper said that the big reptile would be sent to a sanctuary in El Campo called Janek Alligators to live out his days in a breeding program.

“He’ll probably just live out the rest of his life and have girlfriends and make babies and be fed every day. He’ll be a happy gator,” Krobroth said.

It’s a gators life after all.
