Teaching your kids to fish could help them land a world record!
Tia Wiese, a teenager from Idaho, and her father Gary Wiese enjoy ice fishing together.
Little did this father know his daughter would break the world record for perch on a tip up pole.
Late last year, 13-year-old Tia shattered the world record for perch caught on a tip up pole by snagging a 15-inch fish, which weighed 2 pounds and 11 ounces. The previous record holder was a fish caught in 2005 by Roy Leyva in Massachusetts, weighing in at 2 pounds, 6 ounces.
The father-daughter team were interviewed while ice fishing on the anniversary of the record-breaking catch. During the interview, Tia reeled in a perch big enough to tie the world record ice fishing catch-and-release perch.
Although someone else could possibly beat her record, the memories will last a lifetime.
