Stay inside a burning car, or step out to a park full of hungry lions?
That’s the agonizing decision Helen Clements and her two kids had to make last Friday when their car caught on fire while driving through a safari park in Wiltshire, England.
The family was searching for big game in the park’s lion habitat when smoke started rising from under the hood. She hit the horn to alert nearby park rangers. Then the smoke turned into flames.

“We then thought we had better get out the car, but obviously the rangers were saying get back in the car,” Clements told Sky News.
Clements got her kids out of the car and her son tried to run off , but the park rangers told them to stop and get back inside.
“They were shouting at us get back in the car, do not get out the car and it’s a situation – what do you do?” Clements said.
Fortunately, the rangers arrived just in time to rescue the family before the car burst into flames. No one was hurt.
After all was said and done, Clements and her family didn’t get to see a lion.
“I would like to go back and see the lions,” she said. “It wouldn’t put me off from going back.”
Here’s some footage of the incident.
