A father and his two children out to catch some tuna out of Provincetown, Massachusetts instead hauled in a monster porbeagle shark.
Mike Evensen, along with his children Cameron and Hanna, had hoped to boat some fish on their family fishing trip, but what they caught had everyone talking.
After the biggest bite of day, and an hour-long fight, they finally got the big shark close enough to the boat to see.
Even at that, they finally had to harpoon it and handline the beast into the boat, which took another full hour.
Evenson said that both Cameron and Hanna took part in reeling the big shark in, completing the family experience.
When they returned to port, the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries inspected the shark.
After putting it on the scales it officially weighed in at 483 pounds.
The state record is 490 pounds.
The Evensen family now has a freezer full of shark meat to enjoy to the tune of 200 pounds.
