Expedition Overland Reveals New Off-Road Vehicle Builds for Central America Adventure [VIDEO]

See how Expedition Overland overhauled and outfitted their 2015 Toyota Trail Premium 4Runners for their Central America off-road adventure.

This is the kind of stuff that off-road junkies, weekend gearheads and road adventurers love. Here’s the formula: take a solid vehicle platform and beef it up for whatever challenges you might face before heading into parts unknown.

Expedition Overland is the gang that presented us with the exciting 2014 Alaska/Yukon road adventure series. (Catch the whole series on the Expedition Overland YouTube channel. You won’t regret it.)

This year they’re taking off on a similar adventure into the bowels of Central America. These folks take roads and trails that probably shouldn’t even be thought of as roads or trails. Their excursions demand some hardcore vehicle upgrades and add-ons in order to make sure everyone gets home safely and on time.

Here’s what they did with their 4Runners for this year’s adventure.

They declare the Toyota 4Runners to offer a solid mix of durability and function with luxury and high-tech features.

Upgrades include the vehicles’ suspension, all terrain wheels, undercover winch mounts, air compressors, extra lighting, ham radios, graphics, heavy duty off-road bumpers, roof racks, roof-top tents and awnings, drawers and additional storage, food storage and food prep areas, navigation electronics, and more.

The specific components are detailed in the video and at the Expedition Overland site.
