What’s so great about the Smith & Wesson M&P? Besides everything?

Since its release in the summer of 2005 the Smith & Wesson M&P has been world renowned for its role in today’s modern military and commercial firearms.

The letter in its name M&P stand for military and police, due to the fact of many agencies around the globe targeting it for some type of service weapon. Not only is it used by government and law enforcement agencies, the M&P is also widely available and distributed commercially.

This particular weapon has a state of the art polymer frame, giving it the utmost respect in durability and stability. Also, the M&P is a striker fired semi-automatic pistol; this system helps in the prevention of the firearm discharging without the trigger being fully depressed by the shooter.

Upon retail purchase, this weapon comes standard with a bottom mounted picatinny rail system allowing fast and efficient adding and removal of needed accessories, such as lights, lasers, etc. Also available are Novak Tritium night sights compatible with standard or compact versions of the firearm, giving ultimate sight in situations where it may be difficult to see.

The safety features and ergonomics of this pistol were taken into great consideration upon its manufacturing. Specific safety features were added to this weapon giving the owner/operator full advantage of a safety equipped firearm. With the addition of the loaded chamber indicator, this is just one more prop that can be given to this weapon as far as safety for the shooter and confidence in the firearm goes.

Given the features and standards of the M&P, it has proven itself to be one of the major competitors for the world renowned Glock pistols. With a 6.5 pound trigger squeeze, and the Glock trigger squeeze of 5.5 pounds, it is more so up to the shooter to decide upon his/herself which is the perfect match for their standards.

A sear deactivation lever is another attribute standard to this weapon gives the shooter an advantage by allowing the firearm to be disassembled without a trigger squeeze. Equipped from the factory with two magazines it is also stacked with a three dot style iron sight dovetailed onto the weapon. Unlike most conventional weapons this weapon takes its mark at the top of the market with may variations of the M&P available in rifle and pistol.

The Smith & Wesson M&P is available in a variant of calibers such as the .40 S&W, .357 Sig, .45 ACP, and .9mm. Aside to being available in multiple calibers of pistols, the Smith & Wesson M&P is also available in many variants of rifles such as the AR-15 spec of this weapon.
