Ever Witness a Thompson Sub-Machine Gun in .30 Carbine Caliber?

thompson sub-machine gun in .30 carbine

Thompson Sub-Machine Guns are only in .45 ACP, right?

No this one is actually in .30 Carbine.

Ian from Forgotten Weapons checks out an odd Thompson sub-machine gun in .30 Carbine caliber.

This Thompson submachine gun should be chambered for the fat .45 ACP right? Well this Auto Ordinance prototype in .30 Carbine flies in the face of what we know about the Tommy Gun.

Ian from Forgotten Weapons gets to take a look at one rare weapon at the Cody Firearms Museum at the Buffalo Bill Center Of The West. It is a Thompson SMG in .30 Carbine that just weighed too much. While it is very interesting it just never went anywhere. The serial number is acually #1. Incredible right?

A special thanks to Ian for sharing this small step in the evolution of the military small arm. It is indeed a Forgotten Weapon.
