When trick shooter Kirsten Joy Weiss tried shooting a blow gun, she discovered it wasn’t as easy as she first thought!
Blowguns are a very simple weapon, even in their modern form.
However, Ms Weiss discovered that, as for other weapons, it takes some practice to hit your target!
A blowgun is a traditional hunting weapon used by native tribes living in Southeast Asia, South America and Central America. It uses darts or clay projectiles blown through a hollow pipe aimed at the target.
To ensure a successful hunt, darts were often dipped in poison to immobilize the targeted animal.
At one point, Kirsten expressed her relief that the darts she was using were not dipped in poison—they are very sharp! She also discovered that blowguns suffer some of the same kinds of equipment malfunctions as guns—including blockages in the barrel.
It turns out that a stick is not an effective tool for clearing a blockage—even in a blow gun!
