The guys at Sig Sauer put their product to the test in this epic suppressor torture test using a MK48 machine gun. Check out how hot that suppressor got!
If you’ve ever questioned the toughness of a Sig Sauer suppressor, then this is the video for you. The guys at Sig conducted this ridiculous suppressor torture test to see just how much abuse one of their suppressors could handle. The answer: a lot!
They used a MK48 machine gun, which is chambered in 7.62x51mm and is commonly used by Special Operations Forces, and fired over 800 rounds through it as fast as possible.
Watch how hot the suppressor is at the end of the video! Obviously, this is not something that we recommend that you attempt to duplicate, even if you have the right hardware, because it is really tough on the gun and the suppressor.
Yes, the suppressor was glowing red hot and smoking at the end of the suppressor torture test. However, it was clearly still working and there was no major difference in the performance of the suppressor between the beginning and the end of the test.
All in all, that was a very solid performance by Sig’s suppressor. Though there was still a fair amount of noise made by the MK48, the vast majority of it was from the supersonic “crack” produced by each bullet and the cycling of the bolt.
Even more impressive was the fact that the suppressor still continued to operate well even under extreme conditions, which was the whole point of conducting a suppressor torture test in the first place.
