Eight-Foot Bull Shark Landed by Angler on Maryland’s Potomac River

NBC Washington

A group of Maryland anglers reeled in a big surprise the evening of Sept. 3 – an eight-foot-long bull shark!

The anglers were fishing on the Potomac River, near Coltons Point in St. Mary’s County. Although typically found along coastlines, bull sharks are able to thrive in freshwater.

Bull sharks can reach 11 and a half feet long and weigh as much as 500 pounds. This particular one was eight feet long.

One thing is for certain – you’d need one big landing net to corral that beast of a fish!
