An elementary school in Massachusetts plays host to a yearly tradition of leading a mama duck and her brood to the nearby pond, and right through the halls!
Glover elementary school in Milton, Massachusetts is the home of the famous yearly duck–drive that escorts a family of mallards through the school, out the door, and right down to the local pond.
Pull up a seat and watch a whole school full of kids sit quietly and watch nature at work. This is a class that should be taught at every school!
The school’s courtyard serves as a nesting sanctuary ever season for ducks like these, and sometimes the same ‘girl’ comes back every year.
Watching how those children sat in awe and wonder; quietly and patiently waiting for the mama and her ducklings to pass is a testament to how the outdoors and wildlife in particular has a soothing and incredible teaching affect on our kids.
Having animals in the lives of our young people can and will teach them respect and love for nature. Cheers to all the great kids, teachers, and parents at Glover elementary for their love of these ducks and for sharing it with all of us!
