Doug Peacock is out to show a young Arnold Schwarzenegger that he’s not the toughest guy on the block.
In 1980, Arnold Schwarzenegger was a seven-time Mr. Olympia winner looking to make a career in show business. Doug Peacock was a Vietnam War veteran who’d found solace in the mountains with the grizzlies that inhabited them.
The unlikely pair came together for an episode of The American Sportsman, which ran from 1965 until 1986 on ABC. Check out this vintage footage to see what Arnold Schwarzenegger thought of the bears that can make a man into meat.
Doug Peacock has gone on to produce a number of books, movies, and photographs celebrating and protecting grizzly bears and the wilderness they inhabit.
