Don’t Stop Hunting in the Winter: Rabbits in the Adirondacks

Rabbit hunting in the winter extends your season almost year-round, so grab a shotgun and get outside.

Rabbit hunting is a great way to extend your hunting season. In my area you can pretty much hunt them 10 months out of the year and all through winter, with very liberal bag limits.

Check out these hunters and how they use beagles to hunt rabbits in deep snow in the beautiful Adirondacks.

Rabbit hunting is a great way to extend your season, get outside, and if the snow is deep consider using snowshoes like these guys did. Rabbits are also excellent table fare and there are tons of recipes for them, one of the favorites being a wild rabbit stew.

Beagles make the hunt all that more productive, flushing out rabbits and recovering them from deep in the bush and snow, however you can still get some rabbit hunting in without dogs, and it provides an excuse to get outside with a shotgun or .22 rifle in hand.
