Seeing how these dogs looked after they attacked a porcupine, they are lucky to be alive.
Dennis Mazur, from Saskatchewan, Canada, was out walking his dogs when they encountered a big problem. Before Mazur could stop them, his three dogs Mahalo, Nestah and Solijah attacked a porcupine and came away from the encounter in pretty bad shape.
Nestah, above, bore the brunt of the battle with quills all over her face and some in her chest.
According to the story, Mazur’s dog Mahalo (top image) had its lungs and heart pierced by the quills and was in the worst shape of them all.
Solijah, pictured above, just received some quills to the chin.
After the vet treatments for his three dogs were said and done, Mazur’s bills topped out at over $10,000. It was at this point he took to the Internet and created a crowdfunding campaign to help out.
As of the publishing of this article, $14,600 has been raised.
All three dogs had their quills removed, as well as those tricky ones that were lodged inside Mahalo’s heart and lungs.
As of today, all three dogs are resting happily at home.
