DIY Boat Restoration Project is Result of Elbow Grease and Care

This amazing boat restoration project is the product of hard work, history, and craftsmanship every step of the way.

One Imgur user recently posted the completion of his DIY boat restoration project online for the world to see it and it is inspiring.

First, they wrote that the boat was their uncle’s “from the 1970s…but it was sitting outside for over 20+ years and left to the elements.”

Needless to say, it was not in good shape. To retrieve it, they had to shovel dirt out of it to literally unearth it.

However, he saw a diamond in the rough.

So he took it home and started mending it, first starting with marinetex, which is meant to close up any leaky spots on the boat.

Then he prepped it with primer on the inside after he sanded and brushed the outside.

The boat started to take on its beautiful outside appearance after this point as the paint went over top.

Next came the outside of the boat. It needed a primer layer, too.

The paint for the outside came next in an awesome subdued tone.

The inside was reconstructed following the painting. The seats and decking needed to be completely relaid.

The DIY-er also added plywood on the bottom of the boat to make it easier to walk on. Can’t have uneven surfaces when you’re trying to reel in that monster bass.

Carpet and the electrical system was added in at this point.

Finally the bimini top was added and the outboard motor, which was kept in the garage for her 20 years, was popped in. They stated that the boat started after 20 pulls successfully.
