Scuba diver dares to high five the infamous largest ever recorded great white shark, Deep Blue.
At a time when most swimmers are terrified of run-ins with sharks, scuba diver and dive master Joel Ibarra has put a new spin on the word brave!
While studying ocean life, Ibarra left his underwater cage to give a high five to Deep Blue, who is thought by scientists to be the largest great white shark ever recorded. This predator seems minimally curious, fortunately for Ibarra!
Ibarra and researcher Mauricio Padilla have been studying great whites near Guadalupe Island, a great white shark breeding ground, for over a decade. Deep Blue, over 22 feet in length and more than 50 years old, was featured on Discovery Channel’s “Shark Week.”
And on a side note? Surprise! Deep Blue is pregnant! Congrats, Deep Blue!
This is certainly an experience neither one of them will ever forget!
