Diver Gets Inked While Swimming with Monstrous Humboldt Squid

BBC Earth dives deep into the ocean for an up-close look at the impressive Humboldt squid.

The Humboldt squid is one of the many creatures the lurk in the depths of the ocean, but rarely is it captured on film.

Check out this clip for BBC Earth and witness the majesty and the massiveness of the Humboldt squid as two divers swim along side it.

As you just saw, the Humboldt squid was not too pleased to be swimming with BBC Earth, and that’s why it was inking them. Just as the anchor explained, this is a defense mechanism the squid uses to deter its attackers.

Do you thin you’d be able to hang on to the a Humboldt squid that well? The anchor was trying his best to keep the squid still, but its strength was not permitting it to be held still.

Next time you’re on a deep sea diving adventure be ware of the Red Devil, the infamous Humboldt squid. Unless you enjoy getting inked on.
