Here is one of the world’s greatest fishing birds in action like only PBS’s NATURE show can bring you. Watching the kingfisher in action is incredible; how they live and survive in the water’s of the River Shannon in Ireland is too intriguing not to see.

The kingfisher is a resident of streams and rivers throughout Ireland. It’s easy to see plumage changes from an electric blue to a bright red-orange, making the bird simple to identify. It is amber listed in Ireland as a species of concern; the population is called depleted.

Kingfishers can eat their body weight in food every day, so it goes without saying what good hunters they really are. Watching them do their stuff in slo-mo is every bit as beautiful as being there.

Anytime they want to make high definition videos like this, it’s time to get the popcorn and relax for a while.
