Real life versions of Bambi and Thumper were caught on camera playing just like the famous Disney characters.
You have to wonder if ol’ Walt Disney saw something like these two furry critters when he was producing Bambi.
A fawn and a rabbit seem to be fast friends in this video. They are clearly “playing” with one another, in very animated fashion.
The video was apparently taken outside of a YMCA in the Rockies. Scenes like this show why it’s always a good idea to have a video camera or smart phone at the ready.
We all know that nature is often a harsh and unforgiving environment, but here’s more evidence that it’s also an environment of contrasts, and that animals share more traits with humans than many people might initially realize. What else can you describe this adorable scene as but an expression of playfulness, exuberance and maybe even joy?
The movie Bambi has been at the root of a lot of misguided understanding of nature in the general public, as well as a source of consternation for hunters and outdoorsmen. But the comparison of these two animals to the Disney characters is unavoidable. The movie was based on the 1923 book Bambi: A Life in the Woods by Felix Salten, so maybe a scene like this helped inspire Salten to write the book in the first place.
So just watch, smile and share. This video will put a smile on the face of even the most grizzled realist.
