Deer Hunting Forecast Looks Good For Texas

If you're a deer hunter in Texas, things could be looking up for you in the 2017 hunting season.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife recently reported on the state's deer herd. Their report shows all signs pointing to a good, healthy deer herd this season.

Texas, often dealing with drought in certain areas, saw some improving conditions over the past year. Texas Parks and Wildlife states that winter and early spring started off with good habitat which set the stage for a healthy deer herd. This includes quality fawn production, healthy thriving deer and less of a struggle to find food.

It may not be a record year for antler production, but a healthy herd is a sign of good things to come. As we all know, a healthy deer herd can produce some of the best bucks. That, paired with quality forage throughout the spring and summer, will more likely grow better antlers. Overall, Texas hunters are looking at some great opportunities to fill their tags this hunting season.
