A call to Grayslake, Illinois police department stressed that a person had fallen through the ice. Upon arrival, the person turned out to be a deer.
The Waucanda Fire Department arrived at Grayslake expecting to save a person from the icy lake. Instead it was a deer, but the rescue operation still took place.
Officials loosely tied a rope around the deer and pulled it across the ice to solid ground.
When a deer falls through ice, it is up to the local fire department to come to the rescue.
The deer survived and slowly ran off into the woods. It was unhurt but fatigued. That icy water must have been quite the shock!
