Do you need a better appetizer than chips and salsa? Or the Costco veggie plate? How about some deer dip?
You can still use all your regular appetizer snacks for that post-holiday party you are hosting, just make a better dip. A deer dip! You can then tell everyone hunting stories as they ask you about the deer in your dip.
This recipe uses Velveeta cheese, because it’s dangerously delicious. Don’t feel guilty either, it’s a party.
2 lbs ground venison
1 tomato, diced
1 onion, diced
1 green chili (with seeds if you want it spicy, without seeds if not)
salt and pepper (to taste)
1 can of chili
1 lb Velveeta
Brown the meat and onion in a cast-iron skillet with some oil. (I recently have been frying things in sesame oil. It is a bit lighter and gives meat a nice flavor, but up to you whether it is canola oil or olive oil etc.) Toss out the extra fat and oil so your dip isn’t too watery.
Put the meat into a crockpot, add the diced tomatoes, green chili and the cheese.
Put the top on and let simmer for 10 minutes. Garnish with parsley.
Serve with chips or veggies and dip away!
